HEADSTONES AND INSCRIPTIONS

ADRIEN – Erected Anno Domini 1883 by Edward and Mary Adrien in memory of their beloved children William, Edward and Margaret all of whom died young.  The above named Mary Adrien departed this life Novr 5th 1886  aged 35 years.

ANDREWS 25 – This stone was erected here by Nicholas Andrews of Cloughertown for him and his posterity.  Anno Domini 1788.

CONNELL 29 – Erected by Margaret Connell AD 1889 in memory of her beloved father and mother Simon and Margaret Connell.  Nick Connell died 5 May 1990.  His wife Susan died 6 June 1942.  Their sons Patrick died 1943, Joe died 13 July 1990 (Interred in Nenagh).

COX 24 – Here lieth the body of  Patrick Cox who departed this life July the 14th 1763

aged 66 years.

CURTIS 3 – Here lieth the body the Revd. Father Patrick Curtis Parish Priest of Clunalvie, Ardcath and Piercetown who departed this life the 11th day January 1743-4 aged 86 years.

DALION 12 – Leaning badly. This stone was erected here by Patrick Dalion of Gralaugh for him and his posterity.  Anno Domini 1799.

DUFF 18 – Erected AD 1817 by Patrick Duff of Tankardstown for him and his posterity.  Here lieth the body of his sister Anne Duff who died young.  Also his grandmother Allice Purcell who departed this life 6th December 1807 aged 88 years.  And many of his ancestors.  And also his mother Anne Duff who died 4th Novr 1820 aged 70 years. RIP Amen

DUFFE 17 – Of your charity pray for the repose of the soul of Thomas Duffe who died on the 8th August 1900 aged 74 years.  R.I.P.  Also for the repose of the soul of Bridget Duffe who died on the 18th Jan 1885 aged 58 years.  R.I.P.  Verse … Edward Heery died 17th Aug 1972.  His son Eamon died 7th April 1946.  Anne (Nina) wife of Edward died 12 Jan 1987.

ENGLISH 7 –  Obscured by bush. This stone and burial place belongeth to Patrick English of Killmainham Tanner and his posterity.  Here Lieth the body of his wife Rose English who departed this life Aug the 22nd 1764 aged 38 and 6 of his children.

EVERS 28 – Erected by Denis Evers of Heathtown in memory of his beloved mother who died 21st Nov 1865 aged 88 years.

FANNING 5 – Erected by Brian Fanning in memory of his beloved father Patrick Fanning who departed this life Septr 27th 1885 aged 73 years.  Also the above Brian Fanning who died 2nd Jany 1888 aged 34 years.  And also his mother Anne who died 24 Jany 1904 aged 75 years.  Also his brother Patrick who died 31 July 1935 aged 65 years.  His wife Mary A died 31st May 1964.  Brian son of Patrick and Mary died 25 Jan 1987.  Also their son Michael (Nicky) died 6 Dec 1996 aged 82 years.  Suaimhneas siorai doibh.

FLOOD 2 – Sacred to the memory of Denis Flood of  Heathtown Co. Meath who departed this life 21st Octr 1865 aged 76 years.  Also in memory of his deceased parents, brothers and sisters.

GOUGH 13 – This stone was erected AD 1821 by the sons of the late Patk Gough of

Baldwinstown and by Michael and Thos Gough of Tollogue to the memory of their deceased relatives – viz Thos Gough of Tollogue who departed this life Octr the 26th 1804 aged 70 yrs.  Also of his wife who departed in Novr 1806 aged 70 yrs.  And also of their son James who departed in 1817 aged 56 yrs.  And Bridget the wife of James who departed in 1807 aged 37 yrs.  Likewise Patk Gough of Baldwinstown departed the 16th of Novr 1820 aged 68 yrs.  Also two of his children.  May they rest in peace Amen.

HARFORD 15 – This stone was erected here Anno Domini 1817 by Thomas Harford

and his son John of Clonalvy in memory of his wife who departed this life the 23 of May 1810 aged 44 years.  Also three children.  Julia Harford died February 1907.  Her husband Patrick died October 1941.  Their daughter Mary died January 1942.  Josephine Harford died September 1954.

HYLAND 16 – Erected by Mary Hyland in ever loving memory of her dear father Christopher Hyland who departed this life 27th August 1856 aged 73 years.  Also her sister Elizabeth Keogh who died 4th August 1895 aged 58 years. Verse…

KEATIN 11 – Here lyeth ye body of John Keatin who departed this life ye 6th day of May Anno Dom 1734 aged 64.  This stone has been erected here by Martha Keatin alias Triuers.

KENNEDY 14 – This stone was erected here Anno Domini 1817 by Nicholas Kennedy and his mother of Tankertown in memory of his father Thomas Kennedy who departed this life the 14th of May 1810 aged 52 years.

MC GRANE 8 – In loving memory of John McGrane Hynstown Naul died 5th Jan 1946.  Also his parents, brother and sisters.

MC GRANE 9– This stone was erected here by James McGrane of ye Ford of Fine for him and his posterity.  Here lieth the body of Elizabeth McGrane  wife of the above James.  She departed this life Nov ye 2 1778 aged 57 years.  Also his brother Pattk McGrane who departed this life May ye 1st 1743 aged 36.  Also the body of his mother Alice Murphy who died in ye 61st year of her age.  Anno 1749 with 7 of his children.

MC GRANE 27 – In sacred memory of John McGrane who departed this life 29 December 1900 aged 85 years.  Also his beloved wife Margaret who departed this life 19th Jan 1898  aged 71 years.  Also their two sons James who departed this life 28th March 1890 aged 28 years and Patrick who departed this life 7th Nov 1902 aged 31 years. R.I.P.   Small plaque in front of main stone:  In loving memory of William and Margaret McGrane Cloghertown.  Their son John died 28 March 1986 aged 68 years.

MAGRANE 26 – Erected by Peter MaGrane in memory of his father Thomas MaGrane who departed 4th Aug 1808 aged 65 years.  Also his sister Margaret who departed this life 17th febry 1822 aged 43 years.  And also of his mother Eleanor MaGrane who departed this life 5th decr 1822 aged 72 years.  Likewise his sister Mary who departed this life 13th Sept 1824 aged 35 years.  Also the said Peter MaGrane who departed this life 1st April 1840 aged 55 years.  Also his beloved wife Ellen who departed this life 5th October 1843 aged 41 years. Also his sister Ellen who departed this life 21st May 1856 aged 72 years.  R.I.P

MC IVOR 1 – Pray for the souls of Maryanne McIvor Heathtown who died Sep 1st 1872 and of her husband Thomas who died July 9th 1885.  Their grandson Thomas J died 15 Feb 1911 Their son Thomas died 19 Dec 1921. Their daughter Mary J died 11 Oct 1928.  Their daughter in law Bridget died 20 Nov 1936. Their grandson George F died 1 May 1954. Their granddaughter Bridget died 21 Dec 1966. Their grandsons Denis died 22 April 1973, Bernard died 25 Oct 1976, Charles died 4 July 1977. R.I.P

ato the memory of Michael Mastersion Cloghertown who died 11th May 1891 aged 52 years.  Sweet Jesus have mercy on his soul.  And his beloved wife Margaret who died 21st November 1908.  Mary help. R.I.P

MASTERSON 21 – Here lieth the body of Thos? Masterson who departed this life April ye 7th 1761 aged 21 years.  Here….lieth also the body of Bartl Masterson  who departed this life Dec ye 28th 1780 aged 38 years.

MASTERSON 22 – Upright stone inside the church.  In loving memory of Patrick Masterson Ardcath died 20 Sep 1953.  His father, mother and sister.

NEWGENT 30 – This stone and burial place belongeth to John Newgent of the Broadstone in the City of Dublin and his posterity.  Here lieth the body of his mother Catherine Newgent who departed this life the 15th day of December 1783 aged 78 years.  Here also lieth the remains of his father Robert Newgent who departed this life the 16th day of June 1787 in the 90th year of his age.  Likewise the remains of his wife Mary Newgent  who departed this life Sept the 20th 1787 aged 34 years.

REILLY 31– Sacred to the memory of Bernard Reilly of Colecot who died 21st May 1873 aged 73 years.  Also his father Thomas who died 1830 and his mother Catherine who died 26th April 1872.  His brother Richard who died 18 Sept 1869, his cousin John Swan who died 14th May 1871.  Michael Rogers Beashelstown died 28th April 1928.  His wife Julia died 12 Dec 1928.  Their daughter Mary Murray died 11 August 1943.  Their son Michael died 24 Jan 1956.  Their daughter Kathleen who died 5th Dec 1974.  Their son Patrick died 13th Aug 1980.  Their daughter Julia Larkin died 3 June 1984.  James, husband of Mary, died 5 Sep 1991.

SHEALS 23 – This stone was erected by Thomas Sheals in memory of his father Brine Sheals who departed this life Aug ye 15 1751 age 61.  Also his son Richd.

TEELIEN 20 – This stone was erected by James Teelien to ye memory of his deceased parents Walter Teelien who departed this life March ye 23 1740 aged 68 years.  * Alice Sweetman alias Teelien who departed ye life Febry ye 1st 1747 aged 65.  * Two of his children.

TIERNAN 10 – This stone was erected here by Nichlas Tiernan of ye Ford of Fine for him and his posterity.  Here lieth the body of Mathew Tiernan who departed this life Feby ye 7th 1756 aged 46 years.  Also the body of his grandmother Jane Tiernan alias Colier who departed this life Decr ye 3rd 1760? aged  76 years.  Likewise the body of his brother John Tiernan who departed this life same time aged 11 years.  Also the body of his stepfather John Andrews who departed this life January 12th 1761 aged 72 years.

May 1874 and Patrick White MP for Meath 1900 – 1918…died July 1938? …..Elizabeth White died 19….   Alice wife of the above Patrick White died …June 1943.
