Meath is steeped in history. Local historian, Noel French, has brought together records and accounts of life in Meath from the earliest times to the present day.
County Meath is celebrated as the Royal County, the place from which the high kings of Ireland reigned from their ritual seat on Tara. The world famous tomb at Newgrange was constructed over 5000 years ago. Kells is famed for its high crosses and illuminated manuscripts. The Normans constructed their largest castle at Trim. These pages provide fascinating accounts of life in Meath from the earliest times to the present day.
Very interested in local history Noel French has researched and published more than thirty books and articles. Noel French graduated from NUI Maynooth with an MA in Local Studies and has been a Meath County Councillor since 2014.
