Old Graveyard
Smith – Sacred heart of Jesus have mercy on the soul of Richard Smith, Castletownmoor, Kells, who died 5th August 1946. Also his wife Mary Smith died 21st September 1965. Their son Monsignor Claude, died 25th November 1997, interred in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.
REILLY – Erected by Peter Reilly in memory of his beloved mother, Anne Reilly of Drakerath, who died January 7th 1912.
GARGAN – This monument was erected by Patrick Gargan AD 1797, in memory of his wife Mary Gargan alias Cunningham, who departed this life October ….. aged 53 years.
MC GIVERN – Please pray for the soul of Michael McGivern who died 17th May 1955. Also his sister Kate.
MC GIVERN – In loving memory of Mary McGivern, Gravelstown, Carlanstown, who died 15th October 1972, aged 72 years. Also her husband Alphonsus who died 26th July 1974, aged 85 years.
SMITH – Erected by Bernard Smith, Jersey USA, in memory of his mother Katherine who died May 1906, and his father Patrick died May 1907.
FARRELLY – Erected by Nicholas Farrelly in memory of his father and mother, brother Patrick, wife and children, Thomas and Rose Anne and his grandchild T.M. Slevin. Patrick Slevin, Drakerath, died 20th March 1986, aged 72 years. His sister Catherine, died 5th January 1999, aged 80 years.
BALL – In loving memory of the Ball family, Staholmog.
CAHILL – Sacred heart of Jesus have mercy on the souls of Elizabeth Cahill, Reask, who died 27th November 1942. Also her father, mother and sisters.
BRADY – This monument was erected by James Brady for him and his Posterity. Here lyeth the body of Patrick Brady, his father who died April 22nd 1763, aged 43 years.
DRAKE – Sacred to the memory of Columbus Drake of Drakerath and Raristown in the County Meath, whose remains lie here interred and who departed this life January 13th 1807, aged 57 years. He was a strictly honest man and is in death sincerely lamented as he was in life. Most truly beloved reader pray for the repose of the sole of this good and charitable man.
DRAKE – This stone was erected by Michael and Jane Drake in memory of their father William Drake who departed this life 29th September 1771, aged 34. Also the body of Oliver Drake their grandfather, who departed this life January 4th 1776, aged 74 years. Also the body of Mary Drake alias Fleming who departed this life March 17th 1738, aged 38 years.
DRAKE – Erected by Alexander James Drake of Rathvale, Co.Meath, to the memory of his father Christopher Drake of Raristown, Co.Meath, who departed this life 25th February 1854, and of his beloved mother Mrs. Margaret Drake otherwise Somers, who died 1st February 1865. Here also repose the bodies of his brother and sister, Christopher and Mary Drake.
CARPENTER – Erected by their son Patrick Carpenter, in loving memory of his mother Margaret Carpenter, who died 18th September 1943, and of his father Patrick, who died 7th March 1960.
MORRIS – In loving memory of Catherine Morris, Staholmog, who died 11th March 1956, aged 66 years. Also her husband Thomas, died 29th March 1971, aged 93 and their son Michael, daughter Nellie, who died 29th June 1981. Their son John, died 4th April 1986, aged 75 years. Their daughter Lizzie, died 22nd January 2005, aged 88 years.
MORRIS – In loving memory of Patrick Morris, Staholmog, who died 4th April 1962. His wife Margaret, died 27th June 1975. Also their son Michael, died July 1945.
REILLY – The Reilly family, The Keering, Gravelstown.
COLLINS – In loving memory of James Collins, Carlanstown, who died 28th June 1947. His brother Michael 15th May 1937. His sister Catherine died 24th February 1945. Bridget died 17th August 1961. His wife Rose died 19.11 1973 and his son Nicholas died 1.5.1978.
MCNALLY – In loving memory of Annie McNally, Gravelstown, who died 15th February 1973, aged 49 years, and her husband Joseph died 18th December 1985, aged 74 years.
KEARNEY – In loving memory of John (Jack) Kearney, Staholmog, who died 22nd July 1952, aged 47. His wife Bridget (Babby), died 8th July 1995, aged 84 years. Elizabeth Kearney died 1928, aged 22 years. Margaret died 1932, aged 19.
KEARNEY – Erected by Thomas Kearney in memory of his father John and his mother Mary. Also his wife Mary, who died 10th April 1947, and Thomas Kearney died 17th September 1956.
KEARNEY – In loving memory of Mollie Kearney, Staholmog, who died 27th February 1957. Also her parents, James Kearney who died 9th May 1957. Jane Kearney died 27th November 1965. Kevin Kearney died 14th December 1976. Bernard (Bennie) died 25th March 1998.
ROONEY – Erected by Margaret Rooney in memory of her son, Peter Rooney who departed ye life December 18th 1785, aged 21 years.
MORRIS – In memory of Christy Morris, Staholmog, who died 4th December 1975, aged 88 years. His wife Mary died 29th November 1983, aged 87 years. Their sons, Michael died aged 9 years, Tony died aged 7 years, Matt died 11th May 1992, aged 65 years, interred in Glasnevin, Dublin. Christopher (Kiddy) died 16th January 1999, aged 68 years. Also the McGrath family, Drakerath.
BRADY – Sacred to the memory of Mrs. Mary Brady, died 29th June 1833, aged 56 years, and also her beloved husband, Mr Patrick Brady, who died 15th April 1842. Erected by their affectionate children.
CRAHAN – In loving memory of Mrs. Katie Crahan who died 13.7.1964. R.I.P

O’BRIEN – In loving memory of Bernard O’Brien, Gravelstown, who died 21st March 1968. Also his wife Mary O’Brien, died 9th November 1980.
GOVERN – This monument was erected by Christopher Govern of Rosmeen, in memory of his beloved wife Margaret Govern, who died August 4th 1847, aged 60 years. Also his son Bryan Govern, who departed this life July 19th 1847, aged 28 years.
CASEY – Erected by Laurence Casey, Tullypole, Maynooth, in loving memory of Mary Casey who died April 23rd 1882. Thomas Casey died April 28th 1897? Michael Casey died April 22nd 1906, Bridget Casey died September 2nd 1917, Anne Casey died 5th December 1931, Laurence Casey died 6th July 1938, Laurence Casey died 20th February 1947, Edward Casey died 21st June 1950, Thomas Casey died 11th June 1957, Bridget Casey died 6th April 1968.
CASEY – Erected by Christopher Casey in memory of his parents, grandparents, sisters, uncles and aunts. The above Christopher Casey died 11th November 1968, aged 84 years.
MONAGHAN – Here lieth the body of Christopher Monaghan who died June ye 29th 1786, aged 81 years. Also his wife Catherine alias Reilly who died April ye 2nd 1776, aged 67 years. This monument was erected by their sons Philip, William and Thomas.
MONAGHAN – Erected in memory of the late Mr. John Monaghan of Kells, Merchant, who departed this life 13th November 1865, aged 35 years by his afflicted widow Mrs. Eliza Monaghan. He was deeply respected by all who knew him.
CRAWLEY – This stone was erected by Judith Crawley alias Fox in memory of her husband, Patrick Crawley who died October 10th 1779, aged 42 years.
MARTIN – Here lieth ye body of Patrick Martin who departed this life November ye 6th 1748, aged 80 years. Likewise his wife Hannah Cartney, who died May 25th 1733, aged 50 years. This stone was erected by their son Michael.
NEEVAN – This stone was erected by Matthew Neevan in memory of his father, Richard Neevan, who died 20th March 1772, aged 73. Also his brother Pat Neevan, who died 13th December 1767, aged 32. Also his mother Mary Neevan who died 13th January 1776, aged 66 years. Also his wife Bridget who died 23rd May 1780, aged 32 years.
MURPHY – Here lyeth the body of Laurence Murphy who died January ye 3rd 1772, aged 36 years. Erected by his brother Henry.
SMITH – Erected Anno Domino 1809 by William Smith in memory of his father and mother, formerly of Drakerath whose remains here lie interred with those of his ancestors. May they rest in peace.
ROONEY – Erected by Margaret Rooney in memory of her son Peter Rooney who departed this life December 1785, aged 21 years.
MOONEY – In memory of Pat Mooney who died 1935. His wife Anne died 1966. Also his parents, brothers and sisters and his nephew killed in 1922. Of your charity pray for the repose of the soul of Patrick Mooney, killed 17th June 1922.
WARD – Erected in memory of Edward Ward, Balreask who died 12th November 1914. His wife Catherine died 21st October 1907. His daughter Jane died 20th March 1958. Mrs.Mary McCann died 25th August 1957. Anne Ward died 14th August 1963. Kate Ward died 15th August 1973.
REILLY – In loving memory of Jim Reilly, Staholmog who died 29th December 1916, aged 80 years. His wife Elizabeth died July 11th 1919, aged 70 years. Also their grandchild Matty aged 4½ years. Thomas Reilly died 13th June 1940. Helena Reilly died 19th March 1950.
GARTLAND – This stone was erected by Thomas Gartland in memory of his son John Gartland who departed this life June 29th in the 21st year of his age A.D. 1795.
SMITH – In memory of James Smith who departed this life 2nd April 1775, aged 55 years. Also Matthew Smith.
GUGERTY – Here lieth the body of Thomas Gugerty who departed this life May ye 6th 1742, aged 60 years. Erected by his sons Patrick, Neal, Matthew and Owen Gugerty.
FARRELL – Erected by John Farrell of Carlanstown in memory of his father Thomas Farrell, who died Oct 30th 1872, aged 71 years. Also in memory of his brother Bryan who died 2nd February 1875, aged 36 years.
FARRELL – ……. of Mahonstown …… memory of his mother Rose Farrell nee Flood who departed this life February ye 14th 1794, aged 60 years. Also two of his children who died young.
DYAS – Sacred to the memory of John Dyas of Athboy Lodge who died 1st January 1867, aged 72 years. And of his wife Lucy Hane who died 11th February 1876, aged 70, and of his son Joseph Hane who died 20th January 1898. Also of the eldest son Nathaniel Hane who died 8th October 1901, aged 64 years.
DYAS – Here lieth the body of John Dyas who departed this life ye 27th March 1751, aged 68 years.
DYAS – Here lieth ye body of William Dyas of Kilbeg who departed this life November 27th 1775, aged 60 years. And also Mrs. Dorothea Dyas otherwise Morris who departed this life April ye 21st 1781, aged 63. Also Mary Dyas, her eldest daughter who departed this life April 7th 1775, aged 23 years. Likewise her son Edward Dyas who departed June ye 20th 1777, aged 23 years. Also William Dyas junior who departed his life June 18th 1777, aged 21 years.
SAUL – Sacred to the memory of James Saul of Athleague, Co. Roscommon who departed this life 27th August 1865 Fortified to the right of the Catholic Church to which he became a convert, may he rest in peace. This small tribute of sorrow and affection has been erected by his sorrowing widow Clarinda Maria Saul.

KEELAN – Erected by Patrick Keelan in memory of his father John Keelan who died at Staholmog 26th November 1903. And of his mother Margaret Keelan, who died at Staholmog in the month of March 1874. May the Lord have mercy on their souls.
CAROLAN – In loving memory of John Carolan, Gravelstown, Carlanstown, who died 18th March 1963, aged 51 years. Also his wife Julia, who died 18th November 1993, aged 80 years.

ROGERS – In loving memory of Bernard Rogers, Ardamagh, Kilmainham, who died 27th December 1999, aged 81 years. Also his grandson Michael Cunningham, Kilmainhamwood, died 30th January 1975, aged 3 years.
ROGERS – In loving memory of Annie Rogers, Horath, who died 9th January 1942, aged 52 years. Her husband Thomas, died 11th September 1955, aged 81 years. Their daughter Mary Kate, died 29th April 1975, aged 53 years. Their son Frank, died 7th September 1987, aged 66 years. Her brother Thomas, died 6th October 1998, aged 74.
