HEADSTONES AND INSCRIPTIONS

BALL – Here lyeth ye body of John Ball who departed This Life October ye 29TH  1716 aged 40 years and ye body of Thomas Mlone who departed ye life 27 of March 1747 also ye body of Cath—re Mlone who departed ye life first February 1734 aged 17 years ye stone was erected by his wife Mary Mlone alias Ball.

STANLY – James Stanly his Burial place where lies his Father John his brother Patrick and Thomas Stanly and his wife with one son James 1750  John Stanly deceast August 1716 Son Thomas Genery 1738 allso his Wife Honery Norreh Febery 1747

SHERLOCK – Under this stone lye the Remains of Mrs Catherine Sherlock wife of Patrick Sherlock Esq of the City of Dublin who departed this life 2nd March 1785 aged 72 years Here also lye the Remains of above Patrick Sherlock who died – .

HANLY – This stone was erected to the memory of Mr Andrew Hanly who departed this life the 25 May 1812

JEALLOUS  – This tomb was erected by Mr Robert Jeallous March ye 25th 1725 where under lyeth his father and mother Edmond Jeallous and Mary Woods with one child and his wifes Mary Petit and Emilia Holms Where he designs to be interred himself where many of his ancestors hath been interred these five hundred years past.

STRONG – This stone was erected by Mrs Margery Strong alias Sheridan of Clonros in memory of her husband.  Here lieth the body of James Strong who departed this life ye June 1765 aged 67 his brother Nicolas died 1761 aged 70 Requiescant in —s

FITZPATRICK – This tomb was erected by Mr John Fitzpatrick of Gerardstown June ye 22nd Anno Domini 1725.  Here lyeth the bidys of Mr Laurence Fitzpatrick who departed this life 23rd February 1722 ye 61st year of his age likewise the Body of Mrs Mary Fitzpatrick alias Nugent his wife who departed this life ye 26th day of April 1725 in the 59th year of her age.

CUSACK – Inscription in Latin, translated by Professor R M Gwynn.  “Under this monument of stone which was wrought polished and carved by my son John, am I interred in the year 1571, for whose faithful soul pray ye faithful.  Virtue begat me, Piety cherished me, Honour increased me, Skill set me high, I departed (from life) let long lived renown hand down my name.”  ‘En dieu est-mon espoir’

SWEANEY – This stone was erected by – Sweaney of Patrick Street, City of Dublin in memory of his father James Sweaney who departed this life the 23 day of January 177- aged 40.  Also his five children, his father mother sisters and brothers.

FOX – Here lyeth the body of Richard Fox who departed this life August the 15 Anno Domini 1710 Eaged 50 years.  This stone was erected by his son Rabart Fox in memoral of the family 1740.

LAMBE – In memory of The Lambe Family Halltown R.I.P.  Fergus Matthew Lambe.  Born 30th March 1950.  Went to Heaven 8th August 1950.  Beloved son of Matthew and Maura Lambe.

BRANAN – Nich Branan dyed June 4 1827, aged 82 years.

SHAW – This stone was erected by John Shaw of the City of Dublin for him and his Posterity.  Here Lyeth the body of Christopher Shaw brother of the above John who departed this life ye July 1763 aged 43 years.

MADDEN – This stone was erected by Mrs. Alice Madden of Bow Street in Memory of her beloved Husband Mr. William Madden who departed this life 10th June 1786 aged 66.  Here also lyeth the Remains of Judith Madden aged 7 years.  John Madden aged 1 year.  Robert Madden aged 17 years.  Thomas Madden aged 19 years and Rose Madden aged 16 years.  Here also lyeth the Remains of the above Mrs Alice Madden who departed this life 8 November 1807 aged 80 years.  May they Rest in Pace.

Fox – Erected by Catherine Fox of Proudstown in memory of her beloved husband Patrick Fox who departed this life July 26 1856 aged 38 years.  Also his son James who departed this life December 21 1811 aged 9 years.  Requiescant in Pace.

CORCORAN – This stone and burial place belongeth to Mr Peter Corcoran of City of Dublin Merchant ——— his posterity.  Here lieth the body of his wife Mary Corcoran who departed this life the 8 May 1750 aged 35 years.

BRACKEN – In loving memory of Michael and Mary Bracken and their children John  Thomas Mary Anne and James who are all interred here.  RIP

USSHER – In memory of William Arland Ussher Lieutenant Connaught Rangers of Eastwell Gerrardstown.  Born 10 January 1878, Died 28 August 1928.  RIP

BLAKE – Of your charity Pray for the repose of the soul of Mary Blake who died 4 December 1904 and her husband Edward Blake who died 25 August 1910 also for the souls of their children Patrick Mary Annie Christina Esther Edward.

WARD – Erected by Patrick Ward In memory of his dearest Mother Mary who died 24 March 1916 aged 77 years and his father Thomas who died 23 May 1890 aged 80 years also his aunt Rose Ward who died 8 January 1897 aged 76 years And his ancestors from 1790 are also interred here Sacred Heart of Jeses have Mercy on their souls

WARD – To the Glory of God and the Memory of Patrick Ward of Dunshauglin Co.Meath who died 17th March 1957 and his parents Thomas and Mary Ward

BRIEN – Erected by Bridget Brien of Marshallstown  In Memory of her beloved husband John Brien who died 9th April 1870 aged 50 years and the above named Bridget Brien who died 24th April 1900 aged 74 years  Also her sons Patrick who died 20th March 1928  Michael who died 8th April 1932 and John who died 18th June 1926 also her daughter-in-law Bridget Brien who died 19th May 1940  Her grand-child Mary Brien who died 3rd December 1911  R.I.P

WELSH –  This stone was erected here by Thos Welsh in memory of his father Thos Welsh who departed this life ye 3rd day of Jan—ry 1791 aged 76 years

KERRIGAN –  Sacred To the memory of William Kerrigan who died April 26th 1861 aged 66 also his wife Ellen who died 25? Nov 1864 aged 63 years and his son William died Sept 20th 1862 aged 31 years

BOYLAN –  This stone was erected by Patrick Boylan in memory of his two sons John and Thomas who departed this life Jan—y 3 1797 aged 30 years also his daughter Mary depart-d April 26 1782 also his brother —

DENNIN – Here lyeth the Body of James Dennin who departed this life the 28 of April 1750 aged 24 yea-rs

RAN – IHS This Stone And burial place belongeth— James Ran of Irei—town and his Posterity.  Here lieth the body of his wife Catherine Ran who departed this life 17th April 1799 aged 69 years

LYNCH – Of my Michael Lynch who died aged 4— .
